There's just no rider solidarity these days
'Rider solidarity' in the olden days was based on a much more hierarchical peleton, often with bullies like Merckx, Hinault and Armstrong calling the shots (there may be many positive things about Hinault and Merckx especially, but they were bullies).
The modern peleton may not have the same 'solidarity' but it is also far less dominated by authoritarian bullies. I know what I'd prefer on balance.
There's just no rider solidarity these days... I blame neoliberalism.
