  • The future of cooking wouldn't stand for that.

  • I wonder why. Maybe his belief that he's not to blame takes some effort to sustain. He never even excused himself for the contact or shook Veelers' hand. You & I wrote about this before, I'll agree to disagree and leave it here.

  • Ah. Thanks. What I'm confused about is in my mind there was footage of injured Cav riding to the line after he'd been treated. Did I imagine that?

    Edit: I guess I didn't as he's 187th according to yesterday's results:
    http://www.cyclingnews.com/tour-de-france/stage-4/results/

    Hypothetical now anyway.

  • Has Cav said anything about the DQ yet? I'd be surprised if he doesn't also think it's excessive, especially after his post-crash comments.

  • Nothing good seems to have come from the incident except the "I hope he wasn't wearing an expensive second hand time piece" comment.

  • Not seeing this monstrosity anymore is also good thing, no?

  • There is that.

  • Coming to a dental surgery near you soon.

  • Did anyone put their mortgage on Sagan winning green?

    Kittels to loose.

  • Demare must be favourite now.

  • So what, this is it? Not a single person on here has even the slightest hope this gets overturned and Sagan shows up at the start line later today?

  • Sagan to be reinstated before stage start?

The criticism of the commissaires from ex-pros and commentators has been pretty stiff...

  • Nice to be appreciated.

  • Ha. Spooky

  • The intransigence of UCI commissaires is well known.

They've made their decision, they won't change it, let's move on.

  • I think Bora have probably threatened to quit the Tour and Sagan's been up all night crying. Would be surprised if UCI admit fallability but ASO might have also thrown an elbow...

  • What odds Majka winning the stage then doing a shit just after the line today?

  • High hopefully as I put a few quid on him to win the stage today and Tour at about 150-1.

Also put a quid on Betancur for the lols

  • Ohhhhhhhh Peter Sagannnn ohhhhhhh Peter Sagannnnnn

  • Seems unlikely.
Any chance of a rider protest?
From the sounds of it he is relatively well liked in the pelaton, but most riders hoping to win a stage are probably relieved that Sagan is out.

  • a rider protest

  • If Sagan was without blame them I think a rider protest is more likely. But he definitely shut the door on Cavendish and took him into the barriers, so a punishment is deserved, and it's unlikely, in my view, that the riders will unite to protest the sentence.

  • Take the Renshaw incident a few years ago, he's a popular rider but was ejected from the Tour somewhat harshly. There was no rider protest.

  • If Johnny No Name had done to Segan what Segan did to Cavendish no one would bat an eyelid if he was DQed.

I think it is harsh but then I'm always bias towards a bit more risk and physicality (and violence) in sport. I thought the big elbow at the end was for balance and instinctual. The rest of it seemed a bit a cunts trick tho.

  • Ah well. At least Boo-hoo-hani didn't win.
