  • Thanks mate!

They look like really handy frames, a bit more aero than the Koga probably. I never bought it intending to use it as a TT frame but I've been enjoying it so far and seem to be making steady progress.

What are the dimensions of it and how tall are you?

Big fan of the DIY aero parts too. Get out and use it! You're Manchester based aren't you? Do the Congleton CC 50 on 12 August and I'll come and see it in the flesh!

What uses do the other three have by the way? Group photo needed I think.

  • the rear hub is 130 OLD, instead of being 120

Should be easy enough to change, there's probably a 5mm spacer each side which was put in there by whoever changed them from 120 to 130 in the first place.

  • Yeh, does look like there's something there.. but I can't move it. Haven't really tried yet though...

  • Goldtec? If so, you should be able to buy the axle and end caps for 120mm - unfortunately, you do need both, as both parts are different for each OLN dimension. You also have to take the bearings out to replace the axle, which probably means new bearings too.

  • Can you take a closer picture?

  • Zoom in, enhance!

    Chose the wrong link, here:

    :)

  • Link is not working for me :(

  • It's a Gromada (Mack) hub, I'm sure that's true for them as well, look v similar to Goldtec?

    Thanks for the advice.

  • Damn! I think his insta must be a private.

  • Not sure there's much between them, aero-wise; Koga has a much better ST rear wheel cutout and a slicker DT, while the PC has that seatpost (which likely makes no difference) and a shorter HT, but the DT is diamond shaped, which can't be very helpful.
It has a 55cm (effective) top tube, 52cm to top of seat tube, and HT is 107mm. I'm 181cm tall, with slightly shorter legs than usual, and using Adamos (Attack & Podium), BB to saddle top along ST is about 76cm, with 175mm carbon showing at the leading edge of the seatpost.
That TT is very tempting! 5-ish weeks is probably just enough time to get fit for a first ever 50... I'll give it some thought, and might see you there!
I started a CP thread (https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/307166/#comment13724010) yesterday, inspired by the feedback received here over the last few days, which will cover their respective uses, past DIY etc... Got photos going back a couple of years (been too lazy to share until now) but need to organise files so I can post things in chronological order, so will be another couple of days before anything else is posted. Should be pretty steady posting from there though because it needs bringing up to date as quickly as possible. Agreed; group photo definitely required, though!

  • CXP33 X Rec or light Ereus ?

have change all front spokes for stronger ones

  • I have a CAADX that's basically completely stock. The disc brakes are cable Promax Render, they're a bit shit, the cable pull is hard and the make a grindy noise. The rest of the bike has 105, I'd like to update to hydraulic disc brakes, what's the cheapest way of doing this?

  • DIY Discwheel

So the whole plastic cone is covered in car foil and then taped on the wheel? Nice. Looks clean.

Please report on how it holds up to wear and tear

  • Yes. Thank you :-) Will do! Doesn't get ridden too often though.
EDIT: Might attach a some reinforcement to protect the cover around the sprocket area.

  • trp hy/rd + compressionless cables. or RS505 if you want native hydro

  • Juin tech R1 are significant cheaper for arguably better performance

  • awesome, gonna see if I can find some cheap

  • eBay - £150 a pair

  • quick query on current build:

i would like to make pogliaghi road bike into 1x10. is italian threaded bb but just wanted to check this would work - zee chainring and groupset with shimano ultrgra 6800 (ITbb)...?

  • You'd need to add 7.5mm of spacers to the BB I think... Might run out of threads.

  • ok... perhaps my question should be:

how do i make this pogliaghi frameset into a 1x10?

  • to be honest though, my surly has about 7.5mm of spacers on the BB with 1x10. it'll probably be fine

  • how do i make this pogliaghi frameset into a 1x10?

Remove the front dérailleur and one of the chainrings. Add more sprockets if you don't already have 10 of them.
