My one man crusade resulted in triumph last year. I was being tailed by a whole train of Dulwich Paragon riders who sat on my wheel for ages. And then my Garmin beeped a right turn coming up, and they cockily shouted "it's up here guys" and the ones on my wheels overtook and shot off to the left.
I just slowed and and watched the glorious moment unfold.

Ah, one of my main memories of 2011 is a group of Paragon MAMILs who kept dashing off and then reappearing shamefaced once they realised they'd made a wrong turn.

That's full of barriers to repave the area at the moment. DO NOT take that turn on the night if it still closed off...

Okay so can someone explain how to get back to London from Dunwich on the Sunday by train. I've tried scrolling through comments for a solid route but couldn't find one. Is there a risk of some trains not allowing bikes?

You need a reservation and can only travel from Ipswich:
https://www.greateranglia.co.uk/form/dunwich-dynamo-reservation
And theres only about 30 places left...

I may also be bringing a trailer to pick up bikes from Darsham around midday.
Which means you could catch the train like a normal human being and pick up your bike a few days later in Highbury and Islington.
Probably charge around £25 to make it worth my while.
Update here if I want to do it.

Okay thanks mate and how do most get to Ipswich?

Bike.

I spose you could swim it?

Can you catch the train from Norwich?
-
• #244
If not Ipswich go to Stowmarket. It's 30 odd miles of quiet roads and 2 years ago there were 3 of us with bikes that got on the 11.11 to Cambridge. It was empty.

Not according to their special terms for the day, only Ipswich or South of there if there's space.
Best bet is to ride it, 30 miles through flat countryside... Or find somewhere to kip Sunday and come back Monday, you can get a train to liv St for 9 mknday

If only the crusades had been like this. The Byzantines laughing at the way the Franks were dressed - "All the gear, no idea!" - and Saladin taking the piss out of Richard the Lionheart for being too knackered to do anything when he finally made it as far as the beach.

Tempted to give it a go this year, but don't have enough time to get the road bike serviced (needs it). Lack of hills looks promising for an SS outing.

You might think that but fenland is tricky for panzers.

If you hit the fens you probably want to turn around.
