Have been in the region by car only, but the roads were great for cycling all around Stavanger.
Lysefjord is definitely worth a visit - take the ferry along the fjord or climb up to Preikestolen.
Been there end of July / early August. Weather was great and warm, but one day a bit wet and misty in the higher altitudes.
If you feel crazy you can take the road up from the end of the Lysefjord at Lysebotn.
There was a very scenic route from up there back to Stavanger too.
