The rail gun has a great critical hit / custom animation for them :)

(does anyone know if any of the other weapons kill things with one shot?)

Ooh I'll have to try not. Not got much ammo for the rail gun yet. I did enjoy using the missile launcher's lock on multi shot with quad damage active.
