This doesn't bode well for ultegra r8000 which I need for my Isen.

Claris as stop gap?
I am kidding. Wait.
U have other bikes right?
-
• #679
Did you try eTap?
I think it's superb, way more intuitive than Di2 and, thus far, hasn't missed a beat. The Quarq power meter is great too, it just works.

A fixed, and the Robin Mather.
But the kind of riding I was enjoying last year and that I haven't done this year neither are suitable for. i.e. super-long rides, carrying very little, going far comfortably. Possible to do on the other bikes, but not as fun.

Maybe I should borrow one for the Dunwich Dynamo and see how I get along with it.

Build a stop gap cheap road bike for the summer? A 2nd hand CAAD10 or something. If you were my size I'd have lent you one of mine .. I literally have a fleet now.

Such ventures I lose money on. I'm not good at the "cheap" bit. I also lack space, so when the Seven arrives that's all I could accommodate.
-
• #684
Well relatively cheap ;)
You can get something nice and lose less money when you sell once the Seven is ready. The Alu version of Domane disc e.g.
Etap maybe proven 'on here' but HRD is a different beast and 1st gen for Sram under hydro and electronic. Personally I think the hood shape is ugly too.

• #685
This is where you and I differ. I'll not build bikes as stop-gaps :)
-
• #686
True. I have stopped getting rid though which is dangerous.
I'd wait, the new shimano stuff looks really good.
-

It's first generation of the two combined.
I know it's a stock response to joke about SRAM's recall inevitably, but they do seem to have learned a lesson and invest much more in R&D and prototype testing before releasing a product now. Recalls are expensive.

Thats where I have my doubts about HRD. Nothing to do with the SRAM Recall lol-athon. All first gen feels .. well first gen. Even Shimano R785 arent ideal as they were/are first gen hydro and electronic. Its the design iteration, standards that industry is settling on and availability of parts that sets gens apart IMO. I'd happily buy 2nd gen HRD.

OK... so levers may only be a few weeks away.
So I'll ditch the FC-9100-P power meter edition of the Dura-Ace cranks and will see whether the FC-9100 cranks could be acquired within a couple of weeks.
-
• #690
It's either that or investigate the Quarq DZero Carbon for the cranks.
A form vs function question. I'm hardly a super-serious athlete, I can choose form now and function later :)
-
• #691
or get the non PM 9100 cranks and once the PM ones are released sell them?
-
• #692
You are far too addicted to buying and selling, building and rebuilding.
-
• #693
Just get eTap
-
• #694
Get the standard cranks and post them to Pioneer for them to stick there PM onto.
-
• #695
Just get the 9100 cranks and Stages.
-
• #696
Stages
hahahahahahaha

Best idea yet.
I've asked for the lead time on the FC-9100 cranks... will review PM needs later.

What bars have cyclefit suggested, are they internal routing compatible?
-
• #699
Tried a few bars, went for the Pro Vibe bars. They are compatible with the Di2 internal routing.
Their stem is horrifically ugly though, so have opted for Enve.
Do you like no wires and cool carbon cranks? If yes, get SRAM
