There is talk that he first 2 miles might be neutralised, with the timing officially starting 2 miles in. It definitely was the case before, but there is no reference to it the RideLondon page. Anyway know any more about this?
I appreciate they may have got rid of these due to road clogging, but it would be good to know.

That sounds bizarre. It is a sportive, not a time trial or a race, and since the road is very wide at the start and the waves are staggered, the first two miles aren't more crowded than the rest of the route.

The first year had a neutralized zone with the start mat down near the first tunnel. There were scores of riders waiting by the side of the road for friends/significant others. The last two years the timing mat was at the start. I assumed RL didn't like the idea of a 6 inch kerb across the road at 35mph which is the speed we approached it in year 1...
