Seems shitty that you have no choice but to use RwGPS if you want TBT. Really limiting.

I was wrong - Komoot doesn't give you cues on Wahoo.

Done about 100 miles with my Elemnt so far..

(Compared to Garmin 820)
Pros:

• Set-up is simple
  
• Easy to read
  
• Having 'current' info on one page and 'average ride' info on another is surprisingly handy
  
• LEDs look pretty
  
• Seems more accurate to speed changes than Garmin (e.g. auto-pauses/resumes almost instantly without external speed sensor - the 820 used to take 2-3 seconds for either operation)
  
  

Cons:

• It's bigger than I expected
  
• Having to scroll through all the pages to go 'back' is annoying
  
• The lack of decimal speed read out is slightly irritating, but I'll probably get used to it (i.e. sometimes it looks like you're doing triple speeds..)

Navigation is better than Garmin in that it doesn't go mental at you for straying off course, but it's sometimes confusing having the arrow at the bottom of the map rather than in the centre; e.g. if you take the wrong turning, it will beep to alert you, but as you can't see where you've immediately come from, you can't quickly correct your mistake.

Also, a nailclipper is the perfect tool to enlarge the slots of Garmin mounts to fit the larger Wahoo tabs.

You're welcome - even if one person benefits from that discovery, then the frustration leading up to it was worth it!

when I plug my wahoo into my computer to charge, I get the charging screen for about a minute then the screen turns off and I have no idea how charged it is. Ideas?

it just does that, it's annoying, but it is still charging. I think if you touch the power button it shows you where the battery is at. It does at least charge quite quickly.

I also find it annoying that when charging on the move, there's no indication that it's charging (other than battery % going up slowly after a while), which with the slight unpredictability of hub dynamo charging is annoying. One of the few things my garmin 800 was better for in that it had a little lightning bolt symbol.

TBF neither GPS are supposed to be charged on the move.

I just end up using an Anker fast charging battery for the Wahoo, which charge very quickly to add an additional 40% battery in says 15-20 minutes.

It does actually charge pretty well off an Igaro D1. On the positive side (unlike Garmins), it's not bothered by the stop-start charging you tend to get from dynamos.

When it's not fitted in its natty little aero mount, will the Elemnt Bolt fit into a normal Elemnt mount? Finally decided that merely not buying any more Garmins isn't enough and I need to start actively replacing them. Thinking of adding a Bolt to the collection, hence the question.

The speed sensor won't fit on the Mather due to Rohloff and dynomo hub. The cadence sensor would only fit if I use the sticker, but if I'm getting the new bike within a week or so I'll use it on that. Finally the mount doesn't fit my slim handlebars.

Will wait a week.

So I took the plunge and bought one, and it arrived today. Good little bit of kit, but for navigation it's nowhere near as good as my Garmin edge 1000. I liked that at a junction the Garmin would give me a close up of the junction. For junctions with lots of exits I found that really useful. Also, I found it telling me to turn left a few times when I actually needed to turn right, and vice versa. Route built in ride with gps. Any tips to fix the issue?

Loved the small form factor and great battery life, though!

Yup.

I leave it zoomed in and junctions are always really clear. Not sure abou the left v right, never had that issue...

had issues (twice) over the weekend getting my wahoo to load a route from my phone over bluetooth. The phone would say 'sending route' and the little loading % would rise but the device never actually picked it up.

Anyone else had this issue?

Yes. It turned out I had interupted it the first time, and then every time I tried to resend the app decided it was already there so didn't actually send it. I re-downloaded the route to the app, then opened that and it uploaded first time.

Ahhh, mine was a gpx file in an email from audax organiser. Well, actually @ad441 because I cannot organise putting my trousers on in the morning, but you get the drift...

Just to clarify, I am not involved with @coldharbour's trouser putting on...

However I have learnt that every single ride he does involves some level of GPS related rage in the early stages. The advantage of Elemnts seems to be that this is resolvable via phone internet/bluetooth, which is a huge advantage over Garmins.
