I always popped out of SPDs when fixed. Time Atacs. Done.

Were you using multi or single-release SPD cleats? Single-release are probably better for a fixxie skidder.

I didn't know there were different types. Did I get lucky with the ones I bought?

Just got boggo M520 on one bike and M540 on the other, both in good condition with the springs cranked up because I don't like too much float.
