  • de ve cycles in norbury. always been very kind to me.

  • Any suggestions for a good lbs in NW London - West Hampstead, Kilburn, Kensal etc?

    Thanks in advance

  • Bicycle Workshop in notting hill. Worth going slightly further west for.

  • Lovely shop on All Saints Road? Yes I forgot them. Really thinking a bit further North if poss

  • There's a cycletastic community pop up shop in willesden green area. @Husy goes there and they do stuff to get people into bikes.

  • @adrevporn thanks. presumably you need to take your own parts? I need to replace a knackered BB30

  • ^Yup, or you can see if they have any spares but if they do they will probably be re-serviced parts.

  • Might be a bit further east but Lunar Cycles Kentish town are excellent

  • skinny erics in hackney wick is a great little shop
    would recommend

  • Popped into Neil's Wheels in Kingston yesterday, Nice stock of Surly + Genesis, and good friendly chat!

  • Armourtex great service as always. Not just for paint...

  • just a big shout out for two of my LBSs

Push in Newington Green. done two big jobs for me recently and they are all awesome in there but particular thanks to Mike. got some nice bits in there too.

also, good service in Pedal Pedlar on Balls Pond Road. and for vintage race bikes and gear this place is well worth a call

  • I don't suppose anyone happens to know a decent central London shop that could do a bike service today/tomorrow? I could do with both hubs servicing and trueing the rear wheel ahead of the weekend. FullCity, who are my faves, are full unfortunately.

Does anyone have any experience of The Bicycle Man on Old Street?

  • Ah Jamie is a legend!

  • Just had some excellent service from The Red Bike Shop on St Pauls Road.

    Will visit again.

  • ^ great guys there.

  • They had a poster for ThunderCross which impressed me.

  • Looking for a LBS recommendation in or around Homerton, East London...

  • Bit far from homerton but stayer cycles in Leytonstone and bike shack in Leyton have been good to me and my bikes

  • +1 for Hub Vélo. Also the Hackney Peddler (even further away from Homerton), both lovely shops.

@dicki will be along in a moment to recommend Skinny Eric's in Hackney Wick.

  • I'm looking for an LBS for a workmate, he needs to service a mountain bike and lives on the Greenwich Peninsula.

Can anyone recommend a good place around there?

  • Does it require specific MTB expertise, i.e. fork or shock service? If so he might have to travel.

  • I doubt it.

By the sound of it this is a commodity £500 mountain bike that is about 5 years old, and has spent the last 2 years locked in a garden with only occasional use.

I suspect a lot of rusted bolts, and the drive train requiring a load of attention, wheels checked, and not much else... basic service stuff.

He's just in shock at the idea that a service may be £90 (a fifth of the brand new cost in his mind). He now accepts the price of a decent service, I just want to help him with a recommendation that at least says it will be a decent service.
