Probably already been said but, remove the plastic and trim the indexing for a full on 10/10-would-ride-into-sunset-smiling .

colors on point!!! looks great
edit: meant to reply to @Sig_Arlecchino oops -

Cheers, like I said, don't have the tools here atm but I'll figure sth out :) What do you mean 'trim the indexing'? Was thinking about getting some thumbies but it's probably not worth it since I'll be using bar end shifters when I convert it to drop bars in a month or two.
@rawmeat cheers mate!

Post that in the 'Look what I got today thread'.

Why? clearly a current project regardless of post status.
What if the post arrived yesterday?

New beater bike assembly, nothing too fancy. Having troubles as to figuring out how that dia-compe headset actually needs to be installed, will visit lbs saturday.

Nice. I'm after 2 pairs of custom forks. What's the going rate?
-
• #115287
Pretty nice for a beater!
-
• #115288
Yeah, this could be really nice with a good build. New stem and bars coming?
Does it have a new tattoo on the top tube?
-
• #115289
So fairly current then. Maybe it's the project bit that's contentious.
-
• #115290
I'd kill for a Peugeot track frame.
-
• #115291
The forks were just under β¬200. I went for Columbus Max though, other tubing is less expensive I believe.

@MCamb Thanks!
@tommmmmmm haha! No the stem is still loose, so the bubblewrap is for when the bars start to swing. Im not entirely sure if I fit the dia compe headset properly. At the moment I only have a Cinelli Ant / Pepper bar and Deda Zero, beside this Nero setup. Any suggestions?
@mk1mark I got it from the German site Ebay-kleinanzeigen, it was being sold without a fork, size 62ct. Also the threads in the BB were wrecked by cups being stuck in the frame. But it has new threads and working properly again. -

I think skinny steel generally looks best with classic silver parts - Nitto/Cinelli quill stem and silver drops/risers.
Or have you fitted a threadless headset and fork?
If you're not sure about the headset, could it be a sizing issue? The cheap Carbolite Peugeots have slightly rarer seatpost/steerer diameters but I'm guessing that Columbus models don't.

Is it a French standards issue? Slightly different diameter steerer (and BB threads).
Apols if you're a grandmother that I'm attempting to teach to suck eggs.
Edit - failed to read the above post which basically says all that! -

Can anyone recommend an aesthetically pleasing silver ahead stem?

Ritchey classic, Thomson?

I went with this as a cheap option for my wife's commuter:

It's a threadless fork with threadless headset. The NB-1 is looking pretty similar to the one I have. Frame has a Columbus sticker and takes a 27.2 seatpost.

Always wanted a Stumpjumper and now I have one, a 1988 Comp. Lots of work to do but I'll be leaving the paint so I can run it in rat mode. Awful cockpit is awful.
