I've never accidentally unclipped from any form of clueless pedal.
I tried Atacs for a while (for the hipster points) but I always felt like my foot was rolling off the end of the pedal.
Super stiff mtb race shoes made it better but in the likes of a Giro Chamber it felt horrible.
TLDR: I think it's a personal thing and much like saddles, what works for one person may not work for you.
