Rees-Mogg has 5 kids, Leadsom only has 3. With Rees-Mogg thus having the more tangible stake in the future that pretty much settles the matter.
-
• #4203
Really, I had no idea, I'd assumed he was just some giant man child.
I guess he's try to do his bit to replace all those tory voters who die off each day.
-
• #4204
it was a particularly unedifying spectacle. who exactly do they think this sort of braying triumphalism whilst punching downwards plays well with?
-
• #4205
Well, he has been helped out by his nanny. He re-employed the nanny that raised him to administer his own children.

I just think it's the brazen false confidence a troop of apes might indulge in if they're trying to discourage any incursions into their territory. Totally over the top and disproportionate to the actual position of weakness they find themselves in-May just seems to revel in petty, vindictive bullying behaviour as a substitute for actual strength or ability.
I'd love to host them all in a flammable hi-rise and arrange for sparklers to be handed out.

Stella Creasy's 'abortion' amendment has been added to the Queen's Speech. Interesting.
-
• #4208
That article's a tad unclear to me - so if the amendment is passed (which the article seems to insinuate is possible), is there any info on what the DUP would do re: Queen's Speech vote?
-
• #4209
Yes, the DUP would be expected to support the Conservatives in voting down the amendment (as they are anti-abortion, and there is the small matter of their £1bn bribe), but if the amendment wins the vote, the UK government would presumably be required to make abortion services available to the people of NI.
-
• #4210
But would the DUP support that? If so, good. Fuckers.
-
• #4211
At least there's the silver lining of the DUP being in the spot light...
"Although some Labour MPs will not back Creasy"
I wonder why...

Still a shitty law over here, but... a good sign?
-
• #4214
It's a rubbish fudge. Hope Creasy won't withdraw her amendment, suspect she will.
-
• #4215
It is in many ways, they should amend the law here.
But the best we can get here, shortism term is a law that allows abortion for rape/incest (and that'll be a hassle too cos of the usual bs) and serious fetal abnormalities.
NI politics eh?

It passed didn't it?

May's getting increasingly bizarre in her attempts to somehow secure legitimacy to stay. I hope she goes soon, although one doesn't know at this stage what fresh horror may replace her.
Still talking in empty soundbites:
“At this critical time in our history, we can either be timid or we can be bold,” she will say. “We can play it safe or we can strike out with renewed courage and vigour, making the case for our ideas and values and challenging our opponents to contribute, not just criticise … In everything we do, we will act with an unshakable sense of purpose to build the better, fairer Britain which we all want to see.”
Admittedly, in inviting others to submit policies, she has to be open and not prescriptive, but this just sounds like the same contentless bollocks she's specialised in for the past year and a bit.

It's all well and good talking about creating a society for all, but May has done nothing more than talk. The policies in the Tory manifesto certainly didn't match her rhetoric.
Opposition parties know she is a lame duck, who is toxic with the electorate, so why on earth should they help her?
It's desperate stuff.
-
• #4219
This highlights her actions and contrasts it with rhetoric;
-
• #4220
it's an attempt to spread the blame when the fuckup that brexit is / will be starts to negatively effect the people that voted for it. and those that didn't.
-
• #4221
The Sunday stories of Tory plots to unseat May must be truer than the denials claim.
Is this 'reaching out' the only plan May's supporters could think of to get the plotting out of the headlines and May's 'Coallition of DUPlicity' through to the Parliamentary Summer recess? -
• #4222
This is an attempt to get Labour smeared with Brexit, no?
as @greenhell said..
-
• #4223
Absolutely. The best thing Labour can do is give a short throaty laugh and move on.
-
• #4224
Yes, I suspect that's probably one of the main motivations. Let's have a Grand Coalition of two evidently compatible centrist parties!
