I've been fixed on SPD-SL for a few years and pulling only mildly rad skids and never had an issue. Plenty of people ride SPD-SL on the track (including me) so definitely safe around town. But for fixed around town and in the woods time atac pip them as everyone else says. Better engagement than shimano and I agree crank bros wear out v quickly.
