  • I've just given back 3 VWs. No charge on 2, £40 for a massively kerbed alloy on the other.

    They were far from mint.

    It must've changed.

  • This video explained all the PCP, HP, PCH, WTF, BBQ in a simply way for my simply brain:

  • I don't trust a man who uses a calculator bigger than his own head.

  • That's definitely a reason you and maybe plenty of others wouldn't want to adopt hybrid or full electric but both would suit my driving requirements perfectly...

I have a driveway so can charge from home and my journeys are all under 200 miles (with access to charging points at each end).

  • Tbh it would suit me too and I'm a huge fan of EVs.

But I'd still rather wait a couple of years and be able to charge my car in 10mins. Wouldn't you?

  • If you want 10 min charging, you'll have to wait a lot longer than a couple of years.

  • Anyone know of a plugin solution for seat swaps?

I've replaced my cloth Discovery 3 seats with a set of leather E46 seats but I have the whole dashboard lit up with airbag/ seatbelt lights...

Is there a plugin available or do I need to make something up?

  • I spent about 2 hours in traffic jams last Thursday, in London and Guildford, in air-conditioned comfort, with a great stereo and perfect behaviour from the 8-year-old DB9.
However, that, plus my enthusiastic driving on the other parts of the journey did result in an average fuel consumption figure for the day of about 4mpg.

Still, why work hard to earn money if not to spend it on nice things like tanks of petrol?

  • Might go on thursday, waiting on word of tickets from mate, leave from work and permission from wife, other than that I'M THERE BABY!

  • Presumably, if they are going to charge you for a damaged panel because of a stone chip, they can't really do much if after paying them the £3000 you take a sledgehammer to each and every 'damaged' panel and really get your money's worth?

  • One wheel peel

  • Any of you guy re registered a car in the UK?

I've been gifted a JDM Mazda Bongo Friendee that was then imported to the UK before going off to Ireland and now I wanna bring it back here. Woes it go back on the same plates it had before? Will it be a bitch to insure? If it is I'll just sell it buy a VW.

  • "JDM Mazda Bongo Friendee"

    amazing.

  • Bloody kids.

  • Nice, is that the one with the electric curtains?

  • Valid point, would've been interesting to see their reaction.

  • I bought an Accord Type-R in Jersey and imported it. Had to get confirmation from Honda it was type approved, and pay VAT on the price I paid for it (my mate who sold it to me gave me a dodgy invoice). Then I had to get it MOTed, sent all the above plus a form off to the DVLA and they sent me back a V5 and a new reg number.

Amazing car, cost me £8k in total for a 3yo car that had only done 8000 miles pootling round Jersey. By coincidence I saw one in the same colour ("Pirate Black") only yesterday. Eventually I traded it for a Golf R32 which I still kind of regret.

  • Vat will have been paid on IR's car as it was already imported to the UK (Jersey doesn't have VAT and isn't in the UK), and the type-approval/SVA will have been sorted too if it was previously registered.
It will need an MoT and a V5 application.

  • Cheers guys, I'll give it a go then, gonna get a look at it in a couple days and see if it's even worth the hastle.

  • Yeah it does, it's my aunty's surf van but it won't pass irish emissions now and insurance on older vehicles is mad there.

  • 4mpg.

    Amaze.

I had a Cayenne Turbo once and my record was 8mpg, so kudos for that.

  • Installed a new coil pack on the impreza today and it fired right up, took it for a drive and forgot how fun it was. Have since ordered a new backbox for it to replace the bodge I did when the original one fucked up. Nice little 2.25" one with a glasspack muffler to quieten it down a bit.

  • 4mpg, British Gallons is Epic! That's about what I got out of my old boat when I ran in in the UK. You could see the fuel gauge moving.
