Plan for there and back, but give myself an out early into the back if I am too tired or something.
As for gear inches, 75 gi was perfect for a daytime fixed Dunwich a couple of years ago. You don't want to drop too much from whatever you're used to as you still want a decent cruising speed. I think the 48:16 you're on will be pretty much perfect as it is, and if it's what your legs are used to then even better.
