Ha, I'm in the same boat as you! Not sure I'm willing to risk money on an aliexpress job with the inconsistencies etc but a decent aluminium wheelset is £250-500 still, and not all black...
Check out Zuus wheels. They're around to £500 marker, UK based with a years warranty. No experience with performance though, so you'll have to do some digging
Yeah, this is my fear. I'm not often in the moors but would rather not have to be thinking about my rims exploding constantly. Tubs seem like a better option for hills because the sidewall isn't under as much pressure, but anything getting that hot isn't going to be good for it. I know I should just get some aluminium rims, but where's the fun in that?
