• Looking at a silver 105 5800 groupset for a current build, but I can't get over the looks of the 105 crankset. Any pointers towards a better looking crankset that is 105 compatible? Thanks.

  • You can throw just about any crankset into a group no problem. The chainrings aren't (usually) spaced differently like cassettes are. What look are you going for?

  • I think the 105 crank in black looks okay. But since my current project is a red/yellow steel frame, I want to use all silver rims/stem/handlebars/seatpost, so a black group would look out of place, I think. Silver seems like the way to go. Budget wise Campag Veloce and Shimano 105 are okay for me, but the cranks of both makers look rather hideous to me. I adore the more delicate look of the older campag cranks.

So I guess the question is: Is a 2004 Campag Chorus Crank compatible with a 5800 group? Yes, I know, sacrilege!
