Always up for a painful challenge.

I'll throw the wheels on from the other cracked frame I ride around :)

Cool idea... but can I break it more thoroughly first?

Collision Investigation & Prosecutions TeamWell there we have it.
It took them 6 months to say that they will do nothing against the owner of this car:
That was parked here:
https://goo.gl/maps/5jeipDzZmkD2And had damage precisely correlating to impact I received:
And whose vehicle description matched the one that impacted me, and was parked on the street that I saw the car turn down.
The police were useless, as widely predicted by everyone on here.

Saw this pop up in email and enthusiastically opened up expecting a revelation. Much disappointment instead.
I suppose we really do have to camera up and hope the impacts don't conveniently turn camera away from the evidence. -

ha, fucking hell.
- "Did you hit this cyclist?"
- "nah"
- "alright then"
- "Did you hit this cyclist?"
-
• #336
Or don't bother with the useless police at all and seek our own "justice"?
-
• #337
is a Private Prosecution an option?
-
• #338
Is that the car that spontaneously burst into flames next weekend?

ha, fucking hell.
- "Did you hit this cyclist?"

- "alright then"
Yeah, that sums it up.

Sorry to read this. Sucks how predictable it is. Mind you, one word against another cases are notoriously hard to call (I had to sit on a jury for one once). Guess until we're all wearing 4 go-pros 24/7 for 360 degree video evidence at all times the police will always take the path of least resistance.

is a Private Prosecution an option?
Lacking cameras and witnesses who can fully and independently give the plate number... I can't see how it could be successful.
My new bike arrives in a couple of weeks, I am going to camera up with GoPro Sessions both front and rear facing.
Lesson here:
- You can't rely on a city of CCTV
- You can't rely on the police to investigate
- If you want action you must have cameras recording all the time
- Get good insurance whatever happens
I'm so glad I had the insurance. I lost a beloved bike I'd be riding for a decade and would've continued riding. A replacement is due, but this is only because of the insurer (Hiscox).

Sorry to hear this news. It would be a shame if Critical Mass went down that street next Friday and someone 'accidentally' caught its mirror (or set it alight as previously insinuated).
-
• #343
It would be such a shame if a banana or two went up the exhaust pipe of that car.

Perp's car is boldy on Street View, complete with what I imagine is a 'Baby on board' sign in window. Quality parenting happening right there.

Perp's car
Alleged.
The annoying thing is that London is covered in CCTV but nothing for that 100m stretch of Stamford Street.
-
• #346
Must be the only 100m left in London that isn't. Shit luck, on many levels.

I have been using the cycliq light/cameras which have loads of great features for cyclists - crash detection mode so it keeps the footage, lines drawn on the footage so you can see how close a vehicle is. Would recommend.

I've been anti cameras and hate using GoPro but these sound pretty decent and the fact that it's light/camera makes it seem less cunty for some reason. Still, too bad police don't seem to admit video evidence like this but you'd like to think it might count for something even if it's just justice from beyond the grave.
If I ever get to ride my bike again these will be getting purchased.
Velocio-incredibly sorry to hear this and glad your new bike is on the way to soften the blow.

It occurred to me that street view might have history of images that shows that the car had no dent prior to the incident.
And the car is photographed in October 2016!
But it's facing the other direction... so I got nothing.
Damn. Was such a good idea.

Sounds fine.
