  • On paper the only benefit is the weight which can easily be approached with aluminum for less $$$. Same goes for aeroz, you could easily build something faster for a fraction of the price. So I guess Hyperons are a little silly

  • Not too far off...

  • brifters and saddle angles...

  • #4evardownhill

    When I was a GANGSTER.

  • The only holdback factor of hyperons is the price otherwise the build quality is fantastic and they're such comfortable wheels. Since you wrote:
"Shallow carbon rims are silly" I got that you were referring to all shallow carbon rims, including the ones that don't sell for crazy prices and that's what I don't understand

  • What I'm saying is performance/$ on shallow carbon is worse than other options, but if you like the look then that counts for something too ofcourse :)

  • Well duh, that's obviously the most important factor :)

  • I wouldn't consider weight a benefit on Hyperons as they are few grams heavier than a set of Bora Ultra 50...
Bora Ultra 35 are almost 100 grams lighter than Hyperons.

    As per catalog:
    Bora Ultra 35 tubs - 1160 g
    Bora Ultra 50 tubs - 1215 g
    Hyperon Ultra 2 tubs - 1231 g

  • Guess I'll toss #reader's in here too.
Bar angle needs a lil work (tho mostly the photo) and looking to replace cranks at some point but for now it works.

  • @anidel I need your green cages from your Somec so I can finish this one.

  • hard ano rims and grey components play so nicely on this. and purple hubs?

  • Ah! Indeed you'd need them :)

  • Does the modern Supercorsa qualifies for this thread? Looks old but it's not old technically.

  • Old or modern, these Supercorsa's are all the same. Mine is from 1996 and there's no difference with a new one.

  • Tyres - Are they Vredestein fortezza senso all weather ? They look great, What are they like

  • That's what they are. Fortezza has always been great value for it's price (here a set costs 40 €...) but for one or other reason, the tanwalls' price recently doubled. But you can still do about 5000 km on them without problems.

Edit: they now cost 26 € each ("normal" ones), the tanwalls are 44 €.

  • I know, but it's like posting a modern Colnago Master or Arabesque here. Doesn't quite fit the idea behind updating a classic frame with new componentry.

  • Yeah, you're right.

  • Thanks dude. And yea I decided to get semi-fancy with the wheels after a vintage set exploded on me. Turns out fast gravel rides on 20yr-old Ti hubs with a reputation for failing is actually a pretty terrible idea.

  • My god that's sexy (whether it's from 1996 or 2016 doesn't bother me), reminds me of the red Rouke that got posted around a few weeks back.
Red frame with chromed rear, low-key decals and black finishing kit - gotta build me something like this.
