Unless they just put a Velorution store there. In which case it isn't the iconic bike shop any more at all
Exactly. That said, given how close Fitzrovia Cycles are to the main Velorution shop, turning it into a clone wouldn't seem to make much sense.

Does anyone know what happened to Tom/Alex/Will?
I wish I had taken a picture of the inside of Fitzrovia, I loved it.

Velorution in Islington, formerly Mosquito, has maintained some of the former look/feel/products and staff. So all may not be lost.

But in reality mosquito bikes was one of many co operative that were set up in early 80s. Now it's a corporate entity. It makes me feel different about the business. Perhaps it's the only way to survive in more competitive times.
There is no way the staff can be as attached to the business or customer as before. They are now employees.
Hopefully they done well by selling the business.
Thankfully we still have brixton bikes as a successful workers co operative to still go to. -

Mosquito was in liquidation so probably not.

Looks like these worker owner co operative have not turned out to be very successful.
A little project by the gla back in the day which was fully of people like ken Livingston and Jeremy Corbyn. Socialist project in a capitalist consumerist environment are doomed.
I think it's mainly to do with reinvestment of profits. -

I don't think it's fair to say any business has gone under because it is/was a co-op, any independent lasting 30 years in London has done well.

A friend of mine who used to work a co-op bakery in South London says that many people lost the idealism. I think she said there were also changes in the law, although I can't remember what they were, if I remember this correctly, that disadvantaged co-ops.

I can imagine massive disagreements when the business is doing well.
the business is building cash reserve there will be a mix of people some that may feel that they should extract the profits to enhance wages. I private enterprise may increase a yearly bonus but the owner would more then likely bank profits and hopefully that would still be available when things arent going so well ie a recession. Co op is more likely to fail in those times.
May be that just shit economic thought tho.
