Find me a good deal on 28mm elmarit now.

Ordered a kit from here. Received it after 40 days. Quality is surprisingly good and the fit is ok too. Got an XL and I am 181/80. Arms are a bit loose so I guess someone in better shape than I am could get away with an L. Bibs fit perfectly although padding is not on par with the real thing.

I'm intrigued to hear how these are after you've installed them Been thinking of upgrading my SO's mech discs.
-
• #6006
I won't have them installed for a while as I need to get wheels. I'll let you know how they are when I do though.

• #6007
Amazing. I've always wanted one. So may more bar options. Shame its only a 90mm.

Does anyone of anywhere where you could get this for cheaper?
Also, anyone seen Wahoo mounts on Aliexpress?
-
• #6009
The Fouriers garmin mounts (at least the Fouriers garmin/gopro mount) that I've got lets you spin the thing by 90deg, so you can pop a Wahoo in there, without chopping bits off or messing about with it.

Amazing thanks! Much cheaper than this! https://k-edge.com/shop/computer-mounts/k-edge-wahoo-pro-combo-mount/
Now I just need a cheaper version of the adapter: https://www.amazon.com/REC-MOUNTS/b/ref=w_bl_hsx_s_sp_web_8443369011?ie=UTF8&node=8443369011&field-lbr_brands_browse-bin=REC-MOUNTS

Yeah not sure how k-edge can justify their prices really?
What camera is that adapter for?

• #6012
It's for a light actually, Lezyne Micro Drive XL 400
-
• #6013
Been answered loads, but for <£500 for a light, but non-exploding set of carbon wheels where should I look? After something I can go up and down some steep hills around North Yorkshire on and be able to stop. Wondering about tubs vs clinchers too; are cheap clinchers still a no-no if you want to descend on them?
Basically, is it lightbicycle/far sports or a random ebay/aliexpress seller (i.e. CN*Carbon)? Latter is obviously cheaper.

Get some with the the basalt brake surface, stop superbly but eat pads.

• #6015
Not just marketing speak then? I'm not heavy but we have a fair few 30% desscents around here...

A friend of mine had some Bola Pros given to him as a race set of wheels, carbon clinchers, and the rear one has delaminated - the top coat has bubbled and blistered. I was riding in the Peak District a couple of weeks ago and although the decent aren't long by Europes stamdards, theyre very steep and often little roads, meaning you're constantly on the brakes. I held my wheel at the bottom of a particularly steep decent (20-30%) and both the wheel and tyre were red hot, almost uncomfortable to hold! I was just on alu rims, but I'd have been really uncomfortable riding those decents with carbon clinchers having known two people with clinchers that have failed, one of which my Dads clincher exploding! Just food for thought...

Got some raccemer bibs...baggy where they should be tight and tight where there should be some give 3/10
-
• #6018
Yeah, this is my fear. I'm not often in the moors but would rather not have to be thinking about my rims exploding constantly. Tubs seem like a better option for hills because the sidewall isn't under as much pressure, but anything getting that hot isn't going to be good for it. I know I should just get some aluminium rims, but where's the fun in that?
-
• #6019
Ha, I'm in the same boat as you! Not sure I'm willing to risk money on an aliexpress job with the inconsistencies etc but a decent aluminium wheelset is £250-500 still, and not all black...
Check out Zuus wheels. They're around to £500 marker, UK based with a years warranty. No experience with performance though, so you'll have to do some digging

Eesh 1700g for 38mm wheels. No lighter than alu either
-
• #6021
1700?! I'll stick with alu then..

Got some Spexcel 3/4 bib tights, these to be specific:
They're utter shite, don't bother with them. The legs are very tight (even for an M on my 175cm/68kg body) and have little stretch in them, like I've had jeans with more stretch. Took 24 days to arrive from the time of ordering which is par for the course with Aliexpress for me. Pad feels reasonably nice once it's in the right spot but it's wasted due to the cheap, crappy material. Additionally, the legs have no grippers or zip on them so the material rides up behind the knees.
Just to annoy me further, Wiggle now have their dhb Aeron Roubaix 3/4 in stock, in my size and on sale (none of which were the case at the time I bought the Spexcel ones). Shame on me for not waiting.
I can only assume anyone who gave this good feedback on Aliexpress had not tried them on before doing so, or has never worn shorts that don't feel like utter shite. At least if I'd set my $50 AUD on fire it would have had some entertainment value, more than I can say for those tights.

spexcel are idiots. won't be ordering from them again
