  • Thanks all for the kind words.

The issue of getting up and riding again isn't a confidence one. It's that no matter how well I treat my property and obey the rules, there's always some other cunt who ruins it.

    1. Bike knocked over - parked well within the confines of a motorbike bay. Van drives past, sends it flying and doesn't stop
    2. Bike stolen - parked in a bike bay 10m from a busy pub. Stolen by two kids on a scooter with the alarm blaring. Nothing done
    3. Bike crashed - doing 15-20 in a 20mph zone. Kid runs a red light and nothing I can do
  • Same experience here, over a longer period of time though which helps a bit. That's why I can't bring myself to change bikes from the R80/7 and SH300 which are both ratty sleeper looks. I'd love to have something newer with bells and whistles but last time I did that it got nicked.

It's a shame that the only bikes that survive in London are the ones that no one else wants and are already cosmetically a mess. Basically what M_V said, give up having nice things on the street.

  • Sadly can't do anything other than agree. My only new, shiny bike got nicked inside a year in the middle of the day, right by a busy pub with the alarm blaring. Next one was the same model, but with a dented tank, cracked panels and rattle canned flat black, never touched until I sold it.
