    It might not be that complicated actually, I guess I can move my current sim into an old phone to get the text message.

  • I think the app Authy helps with these scenarios. Not much help now but maybe worth looking into. @Velocio recommended it before, don't know if he has changed his mind but he is clued up in these matters.

  • Authy is great, and it's best to install it as your 2FA code generator long before you need it.

    It does the same job as Google Authenticator, except it additionally has an account and can allow you to back up your authenticator codes so that they can all be restored to a new device with minimal fuss and without having to deactive and reactivate each account.

    You just get a new device, sign in to Authy, and your codes are all there.

    I still use it, it's great and provides peace of mind that if I lost my phone or it irrevocably died I'd still get into all my accounts once I had a new device.
