Does anyone know anything about gardening?

Bought these to water my chilli plants whilst I was away for a week and they worked wonderfully.

They're in, made some sweet bamboo frames today so can now leave them be for a bit.
The offer of comfry is much appreciated.
Pak choi has sprouted and the chillis and peppers look happier for repotting. Foolishly I didn't fill the pots right to the top for some daft reason but hey ho.

Some fucking animal has eaten almost all of my chill plants. Fucking nature!

Toms have a line of mini carrots and shinguku either side. Cucs trough will get some other stuff too.

I've lost 3 spinach plants to the wind over the last couple of days. Sad times :(

My young pepper plants are taking a battering from the wind on the 3rd floor balcony but standing strong. Luckily the young cucs latched onto the poles a couple of days ago. Should I try and fashion a bit more shelter or let them htfu? Everything is loosely tied to poles but free to move. Luckily nothing is more than 12" high at the mo.

I lost a sunflower to the wind today. It was my favourite.

RIP evening primrose. Could have been the wind or the bloody dog. I still have a couple.

Something has eaten my entire foxglove plant. I've had it in the ground for about three weeks. It was being a bit nibbled by something, but not to badly. I put down slug pellets anyway, yesterday, just to help out.

This morning I went to check it and it is gone. All gone. Right down to the root stem. There are some dead slugs around it.

What?

I am bemused and a bit pissed off.

Any ideas what happened?

Aren't foxgloves toxic?

Look for something dead nearby... Maybe it was the slugs?

The wind has claimed another couple of spinach plants, a broad bean, and, strangely, one of the runner beans shoots that was half-way up the pole.

First hint of a pepper. Plant is pretty damn small, only 30cm tall, is this big enough to support full sized sweet peppers?

Check for caterpillars too.

Slugs and snails will definitely eat foxgloves

More allotment progress.

Lots more stuff coming up. Peas and salad still delivering, artichokes almost ready and wee San Marzanos and courgettes just starting to appear

With the aid of the ever-helpful forum wood wizard @BareNecessities, I managed to not ruin an expensive pile of wood and we got most of the way towards turning it into a pergola.

Today all the roof is on and I'm cutting braces for the corners

My mitres don't suck, and the one that was a bit off I fixed with a chisel, thanks to Pete's sage teachings.

Drill is on charge, back later to finish it all off

This is not as much fun as you might think in this weather.

This is the worst of three dog deceleration/acceleration areas where he finishes his first high speed circumnavigation of the garden seeing off all perceived threats.

I planted this apple tree, to espalier, this morning.

It's completely the wrong time of year to be tree planting. I hope it survives. Water it regularly, but be careful not to over water it.

Seriously though, all recommendations are that you plant trees when they are dormant in winter, as this gives them a better chance of surviving the change. But, they are usually tough bastards so hopefully yours will thrive.

Yeah, I've done a bit of research. I'll be tending to it pretty closely. Keeping it moist til this heat wave goes off at the end of the week.

I think it'll be OK.
