Alves was one of Juve's best players last season, he was phenomenal.

As @andyp says his time at juve was an unqualified success and I'd say he's got a season or two still left in the top flight and the belief and knowledge he can impart to any other young full back City have on their books is invaluable. Plus he's won so many trophies, having that experience in your squad can only be a good thing.
Plus Barca never really replaced him, so in hindsight they should have kept him..

Guardiola seems determined to take a series of huge gambles on his defence.
Alves was unreal at Barca but they sold him because his best is well behind him.
Might still be in for Walker as City need 4/5 defenders. Levy will obviously make it very painful for any buyer.
