How it is on my mtb. Same on a road chainset, just pick whether you want to use a smaller outer ring or a bigger inner ring based on whether you want your main chainline further in or out. Obvs a smaller outer ring will look tidier.

yeah I actually just need to fit the brake cables. got a front derailleur and shifter for £7 at the bike project. it doesn't work beautifully but it will do. tbh I don't think I will use the big ring at all so will probably go to 1x10 with a NW (or just run the small ring that is on there now). also need a rack

the stem doesn't clamp very well either. which I am gutted about

I run mine 1x10 with a Dura Ace rear mech and converted Dura Ace TT to Thumbie shifter. To keep the chain on I use a Paul comp chain device.

I used to run it without and the chain would jump off periodically. Now it never happens.

Very tempted to give this a go for commuting duties.

I've got an old Shimano 600 sis derailleur set up as 7-speed with friction downtube shifters on an old beater. What would I need to convert this to indexed thumb shifters on a flat bar? Cable stops, something like a Paul Thumbie and then some thumb shifters? Can I combine and use some kind of trigger shifter?
