but wet feet?

Have you never ridden with other people in the rain? It's just polite really, makes the world a nicer place.
-
• #2829
yeah, riding in the wet in a bunch with good mudguards is total joy.

Frames with holes for mudguards but no chain stay bridges... What's the point?
(Insert slap bass solo here, I guess) -
• #2831
Nope, I don't ride with a club and won't be in the near future either so not really an issue
-
• #2832
not really an issue
Apart from any poor fuck within a few meters of your rear wheel!
-
• #2833
So don't ride within a few meters of someones rear wheel in the rain. Its not that difficult really. I'm not on a training ride with you, you don't have to draft me, overtake or keep a safe distance

That distance is realistically at least 5m in conditions like today - largely impossible in many parts of London - e.g. cycle superhighway. I just don't see the resistance to flaps when you've already got mudguards.
-
• #2835
Oh I've no resistance to them. I'm just not in a rush to put them on when I primarily bought mudguards to stay dry and that's what they're doing. I'll probably sort something when the wet weather becomes more frequent again.

Just put reflective 3m tape on my rear. Should be good for night visibility

Is it black without a light source shining on it?

Sure is!

Been thinking of this stuff for a while. Link?
-
• #2840
Sweet, need to get me some of this stuff
-
• #2841
Good idea, I've got some on my rear guard and front of forks, but also some strips on each pedal arm, which gives you the added bonus of side-view visibility of a reflective surface on a moving part. Not sure exactly what the tape above is, but I think I got me some of this:

Weirdly my mudguards from radial cycles never turned up. Wrote them to ask about it and have just been told that the package has been returned by RM as they won't handle international parcels of that size. Radial claim they don't have "access to any other means of postage". Ooookeyy then...

Thought I'd post this here:

£30 pdw 30mm guards. Not my ad. -

Last night on my journey through Victoria Park I heard the familiar 'ping' of some tree debris in my rear wheel, followed by an unfamiliar cracking sound.
Thankfully it was 'just' the mudguard. I think a twig had found itself sideways in the spokes and, when meeting the mudguard struts, had the effect of ripping the metal brace through the plastic shell.
It's cracked, but is just about passable for now and is retaining its shape for the most part. I'm going to get some reinforced tape on there shortly, but want to get a replacement.
It's a 45mm SKS Chromoplastic in black. I've posted in the wanted classifieds, but posting here on the off chance that anyone has one lying around, or knows where I can get one. All the mountings and hardware are going to be reused - it's literally just the mudguard shell.

I might have a spare, I'll check size in a while. I've got front and rear and they're clutter so if you want one take both!

• #2849
Can you buy and replace the plastic flap on Longboards? I appear to have lost the front flap on my road bike.

A few eBay sellers seem to have them too, ~£6 inc. P&P. Cheapest was this one but everyone has a list of small bits to order from SJS in one go, right?
Several meters like a safe stopping distance several meters?
Anyway, I got guards to have a dry bum and for no other reason
