  • Does anyone have any experience of camping in/near Copenhagen? My girlfriend and I are cycling from Copenhagen to Hamburg starting next week and I'm struggling to understand some of the websites...

  • There are shelters around were you can stay for free. Some need to be booked in advance though.

  • If you just want shelters or similar, try this app: https://itunes.apple.com/dk/app/shelter/id626652345?l=da&mt=8

  • Cheers, thanks - also another question - how exactly do I get from Zealand to Funen - where does the train run from?

  • Korsør to Nyborg

  • So, My GF just got into CBS. How hard is finding a job in Copenhagen for a Non Danish speaker? Anyone point me the way of some job sites that I could take a look at?

  • Arrived yesterday with the missus, just here for a few days and loving it already! We were amazed by the amount of barely attached bicycles..

Today we visited the Tivoli gardens, walked around the city centre and then had dinner at a very inexpensive (mostly vegetarian) buffet called Madglad, which I definitely recommend!

  • I was going mad sampling beers at Mikkeller and Olsted bars among others.

Now this is the kind of info I was after.. our airbnb is about a 100ft from a Mikkeller bar in Vesterbro, cheers!

  • Mikropolis might be worth a visit as well: https://www.facebook.com/MikropolisBar/

  • Thanks!

Would you be able to recommend a good bike rental place as well (or anybody else)?

  • This was basically below where I stayed last time, really nice. There's a little place called Kalaset just over the road which is nice also. Ate at Brod&Ol which was great, Refused to go in WarPigs as they were blasting the Fratelli's.

  • No, sorry. And sorry for the late reply.

  • My boyfriend @IdealStandard moved here to study two years ago (he works at Kalaset! Used to work at WarPigs - might have been the Fratelli's that put him off), and I came out to join him a year ago. I don't speak Danish, but I've got a job as a copywriter at an agency that works mainly in English. Before this job, I was working as a trainee mechanic in a bike shop, and also at a cafe where I spoke English, and started picking up a bit of Danish.

Not sure what kind of work you're looking for, but service/retail jobs are pretty easy to come by as a non-Danish speaker – handing out CVs/getting an intro is pretty much the only way to get in. If you're looking for something else, most companies use LinkedIn. But then there are a few specific sites for things, like architecture-specific listing etc... There are a few sites for start up and UX stuff too.. I think http://danskdynamit.com/ had a few bits too...

On a side note, I find that people are v open to random networking here.. I had a few random coffee meetings with people who worked for orgs that I wanted to squeeze my way into, and they'd always give a good hour of their time. It lead to a bit of freelance work when I first got here, until I found my current job on LinkedIn...

Anyway, hope this helps. Good luck!

  • But then there are a few specific sites for things, like architecture-specific listing

    What's that site?

  • https://www.scandinavian-architects.com/en/ and then Dezeen jobs was a good place to look too. But baring in mind, I was looking for research/writing-based jobs in architecture/urban planning firms, so probably not the best informed..

  • Only just seen this, but thanks. I have a fair bit of Bar experience but don't really want to go back to it (not putting it down, but I can resist anything but temptation), though I may use it to top up income and also improve language skills. I'm going to be over fairly regularly visiting my GF so maybe some "networking" is the way forwards. Just joining RCC for the bike hire, important things first.

  • Is there much of an Amateur racing scene around Copenhagen?

  • Noticed four cyclotouristas staying in my building. Somobody from here?
    Two salsa vayas etc.

  • @kompute feel free to get in touch if you want to go for a spin.

  • Will do, I've joined the RCC for bike hire & coffee purposes so may well go out from there.

  • @Kompute I'm staying away from the clubhouse for a bit but I'll be back from September. See you there.

  • Hi, i'm in Copenhagen this weekend, should be riding from the Rapha clubhouse on Sat am if you are about?

  • Not much action on this thread, but i'm now moving to Copenhagen on April 6th. If any of you guys know anyone looking for a roommate. Can see this bit being difficult

  • Study or work? Housing is pretty difficult at the moment, but there are something to do for students.

  • Working. I can stay with the GF for a while, and register CPR at her sisters, but it's not permanent. I'm not all that fussed on area, prob 6k budget. If you hear of anything coming up let me know.
