• So here we go.. Another nice project. This time the former PDM team bike of Adri van der Poel. Father of Matthieu van der Poel the famous Dutch Cyclo crosser. With this bike he became Dutch Champion and won stage 9. in the Tour the France in 1987.

Original condition was really terrible. On the pictures you can see how it looked like when the last owner found her parked against a lantern pole somewhere in Anna Paulowna, a small village close to Amsterdam.

After some hours of cleaning the frame now looks like this :)

Bike will be rebuild with a first gen. C-record group. I'll try to post some pictures of the build here!

  • Oh my, that's something very special.

What's the story of how it came to be in such poor condition?

    What size? Looks fairly big.

  • Someones used it probably as a commuter and left it somewhere parked against a lantern pole...

    Size is 58 cc.

  • Great job keep going. I found Gert Jan Theunisse's 1988 bike in similar condition and I just cleaned everything. It looks pretty good and I believe better to do that than repaint. I'd leave the campy that's already on it, it's accurate to the time frame of the bike and most likely the original parts. Post pics when you're done or better yet post them on the Facebook page CycloRetro Marketplace.

  • Any photos of Gert-Jans bike?

  • Go to this website, its featured there at the bottom of the Bike Builds page
