  • Pulled this out to see how the nato goes with it and now really want to get it fixed (gains time - a lot of time. As in 2mins every 10minutes. And the bezel is stuck).

Alsal say they need to look at it before saying how much it will cost. Any ideas what could be wrong and a rough idea of how much they usually charge? I guess I can pick up another one for £100-£150, so not looking to spend any more than that.

Their opening hours are impossible for me, so don't want to take time out to get there only for it to be a wasted journey.

  • Inst there a regulation adjuster?
Not sure it'll stop it gaining 4 hours a day though

  • Is that a 7s26? Massive gains are often just the hairspring hooked up on the stud, no? Could be a quickish fix.

  • Yep. 7S26-0054. Perhaps it's worth the trip afterall.

  • The sudden extreme gaining is a common thing that can happen to these watches if they are dropped at a certain unlucky angle.
Happened to mine and was an easy cheap fix for a knowledgeable watchguy.

  • Even more encouraging as I did drop it right before this started to happen.

Any alternatives to Alsal that's open at weekends or early/late that anyone can recommend?

  • Just got my Heuer Monaco back from Alsal, after a long overdue service, repair and new rally strap.

  • Really nice!

  • brave posting a quartz in here

  • I am fully embracing quartz, my last 3 watch purchases have been battery powered (admittedly 2 were G-Shocks)

  • Unless it's automatic

  • I didn't even know they made a quartz one. It's an automatic.

Mine's a CS2111 - the 2nd reissue model from 1998, before they put TAG on the dial. I think the movement (Heuer call it the Calibre 17) is an ETA 2894-2.

  • Oh, Henry... Do u even watch, bro?

  • Bit of solid silver from 1931.

Swiss movement, 15 jewel, 925 and foreign (leo) hallmark stamps, solid lugs and domed crystal. Bought from a friend who died nearly 10 years ago now. Was repaired once after I dropped it, rarely wear it now to save that happening again.

  • Wear it and if it breaks get it fixed. Watches are made to be worn. Life's too short.

  • Love this.

Strong square watch representation on this page. Or cushion case.

  • Those numerals <3

  • That is a beaut

  • Anyone have a or rate Helgray watches? https://www.helgray.com/collections/watches

  • Bought a Seiko SNK809 after seeing reviews and it being a 'proper' auto for £60
Small and simple with a nato strap for using at work and on the motorcycle (helping not to slice the wrist in the event of an off like my metal starps could).

Long story short: it's going back. Disappointingly poor in every way, plus the one I got has a faulty winder mechanism. Not the Seiko quality I'm used to.
Back to the virtual drawing board innit fam
