I've been speaking recently to some orthodox Jewish family members. One woman is Dutch and was allowed to cycle in Amsterdam.
Apparently Jewish women in the UK are not permitted to cycle since women cycling, or anyone cycling is not considered normal here.
I suggested that she asks a rabbi for an updated view on this.

I will never, ever understand why cycling could possibly be considered a threat to the moral integrity of women. I'm not talking about the dress issues in Iran, as that's quite a separate issue. Of course, disapproval of women and cycling is not limited to Iran, but occurred very strongly in the rest of the world, too, such that in Europe cycling for a short time even became a symbol of women's liberation.
