Trying to find a frameset for muddy tow path commute, bit of road and occasional old railway paths etc. Everything I find is in some way not compatible with dynamo hub and back wheels I have.
How did mtb hubs get so complex!? 110mm boost front? Bolt through? Boost rear.Anyone want to sell me a 29er frame that's essentially out of date so I can use my nice wheel collection?!

Just look out for an old Karate Monkey, they come up cheap on ebay and the like fairly often

Do you want drop bars or flat?
-

I think flat so I can ride modest trails into the peaks near here, but open to idea of drops. I have a cx bike already with big tyres- this is for winter so needs mega mud clearance. Inbred doesn't have any guard mounts which is annoying, though is cheap!
Old karate monkey would be nice -

I think it does, but the seat stay mounted brake caliper might make it a bit of a faf getting the mudguards mounted. You could always go for p-clips?
-
• #15692
You can either bend the mudguard stays or use a longer bolt and space them out (chromoplastics now come with little plastic spacers just for this).
Not rocket science.

Aesthetically, I'd go for p-clips then. I think the long spacer trick looks more like a bodge.

I see so many practical bikes like that with the bars at that angle and wonder what kind of monkey that is comfortable for.
Level or rather (for me) slightly angled down. -

Nothing down at the bb area. I'm not really up for spending on a frame that's not perfect, I'll stick with my imperfect 26er with all the mounts!

How much do you want for it?
