I have play in my gxp bottom bracket (on the track bike) which can only be felt when the drive side crank arm is forward and in line with the chain stays.
I can also feel and hear a clicking sound when I push down on the drive side pedal when riding. I assume this is the chainring moving (due to the bb play) and throwing the chain line out as the chain goes over the teeth .
Evans checked the crank arms with a torque wrench. They said its either the axle or an ovalised bottom bracket.
Does this seem possible? I can't really see how the axle could be damaged.

Hi, I hope this is the right place to ask this:
I have a gravel bike with MTB Sram GX 1X11 groupset that I want to turn brifters / drop bars.
I plan to mount sram rival 11s brifters.
I wonder:- would they fit my GX rear derailler? I heard Sram won't recommend it.
- would they fit my TRP Spykes disc brakes?
Thanks for your help!

Sheared the crank cap on my fc5603. Only a 5er to replace, struggling to remove sheared bit from axle though. Any tips? Needle nose pliers not biting.

Have a look in this thread for suggestions.
You need to use a gear calculator that accounts for wheel size, such as this.

Need some help, my brothers friend is looking to upgrade his specialized tarmac it currently has a tiagra groupset 9 speed but now he wants to upgrade to shimano 105 10 speed, what we would like to know is, is it a straight forward swap or will he need need to upgrade the rear hub too?
Sorry if this sounds dumb but i have no clue about gears,
thanks. Also where can we source a 105 groupset for a good price (cheaper than retail)?

Shimano 8/9/10 use the same freehub.
Ribble and Merlin are my first stop for groupsets.

Thank you for your help, much appreciated!

You're welcome, but re-reading your post I missed that he wants 10 speed 105.
105 is 11 now, Tiagra is the top 10 speed.
But my friend is upgrading and so her 10 speed 105 (5700) is available: send me a PM if that's of interest.

11 speed it is then I guess, I had a chat with him earlier today i think he wants something brand new for peace of mind, also
But thanks for the offer.

Fair enough. 11 speed will require a new rear wheel.
The current Tiagra is a great groupset: better than the old 105.

Question that I'm sure has been done to death but really need peace of mind. 111mm centaur with s75 gonna give me 44mm chainline right? Which will be fine on anything 43mm right?
Also, what tool would I need for the centaur bb? -

JF Wilson early 70s frame with British thread BB.
1st Gen Dura Ace BB fitted when I bought it but has the non drive side cup not fitting properly. I have removed it but cannot figure out why the cup doesn't fit correctly. The spindle is the correct length with the cups

I'm by no means an expert on such things (or anything else), but I suspect the answer is to do with "thick" and "thin" cups.
Older frames tended to have less thread cut into the shell.

Ta very much @Scilly.Suffolk.
Do you know of any BBs that are more suitable for 70s frames with thin cups
103mm is short for a triple: something like 115mm is more typical. The derailleur cage going excessively outboard, suggests this is the case.
I wouldn't get too hung-up on the gap between the crank and the BB: one man's "unusually large", is another's "looks ok to me".
The chainline defines whether you've got a good set-up: what is it measured to the middle ring? 45mm is the Shimano road standard.
How wide was the first BB you tried?
Providing you're using an 8 speed chain, I can't think of any problems from using 10 speed rings.
Photos would help.
