@Cycliste and I did the UNICEF Cycling for Children ride today. Unfortunate overtones of 'Scouting for Boys' in the name, but no doubt it's a lot clearer in Schweizerdeutsch. There are lots of different things to do, depending on age, fitness and ability, but we went for the biggest one, obviously, the 20km loop option. It's a 20km loop with 750m of climbing, and the idea is simply that you keep going round and round until you've had enough. If you do it 6 times, it's the same as climbing Mont Blanc in elevation gain. 12 laps, and it's the same as Everest. No-one managed 12 laps.
We managed 8 laps, which was enough to win @Cycliste the prize for the woman who rode furthest and climbed most. By a considerable margin, I'm happy to say, as the runner up had only done 6 laps. Apart from the 4am Swiss time (3am UK time) alarm call and the 5.20am start, it was all rather jolly.
