  • been reading about frame savers (e.g. jp weigle / boiled linseed oil) -- anyone do this with their surly frame? about to start building up my straggler...

noted that it's ED coated, but is that enough?

  • A while back I discovered rust holes in the chainstays of my 50+ year old Flying Scot so went out and bought some framesaver. I've done a couple of my frames but not all f them. I should really. It's a piece of piss (especially if you have a bare frame) and if it does *any*thing then it's probably worthwhile.

Caveat, while the Scot drops flakes of rust out the seatube at any opportunity and you can hear all the tubes are full of rust from it tinkling around inside , it is from the 1950s, has spent a lot of it's life in damp garages/sheds and probably wasn't built of the best stuff to start with. It's original owner is no longer of this earth. So, you probably don't need to worry really.
