Couldn't find anything that moved this time.
How is it possible that these bugs spread so fast :S
-
• #6353
If you can not use a comb keep brushing. That is a lot of flea shit. Speak to your vet which should recommend a treatment and action plan for getting rid of fleas. They will come back.

• #6354
Yeah I will contact them first thing in the morning
Any tips regarding what to do with my house? Salt seems to be working. Found a lot of dead ones.

I have not had problems with fleas in my house. I just hoover and change the hoover bag regularly, use Indorex spray and comb + brush my cat. Sorry.
-
• #6356
Indorex? That stuff contains permethrine. That kills cats :S That stuff is really dangerous.
"Permethrin is one of the most common causes of poisoning of cats in many countries, with many thousands of cats affected. However, the frequency with which this occurs will depend on the availability of concentrated permethrin-based products, the regulations surrounding their availability, and the labelling used (clear warnings on permethrin products will reduce the number of poisonings through accidental use)."
As I said in a previous post on this page:
"Edit: There are two version of that spot on stuff, one for cats, one for dogs. if you use the dogs one on cats they die."
The difference is permethrine.

The advice you've been given here is good. There has been lots of stuff over Facebook about how the Bob Martin cat stuff is seriously dangerous for cats.
IMO go to the vet, get the proper flea/tick stuff - Stronghold or Advocate and use it every month without fail. Your cat will be a lot happier too. Also get them regular worming tablets.
As to the fleas, if you treat the cat properly, they have a limited source of food so should die out naturally. Keep vacuuming and dusting daily. The Vet will recommend something. Be wary of over the counter home sprays as some can cause allergies in people.
I remember reading in an earlier post someone was having a behaviour problem with a cat. Feliway plug in could help.

Yeah I won't use it again.
I went to the vet this morning. They say she's doing just fine, nothing is wrong. I can't use stronghold (which they sell) for another 3 weeks minimum. Otherwise it would be a double dosage and it might kill her. They are expecting a restock on tuesday, so I'm going back next week to get it, so I have it in my house. She get's anti worms every 2 months. I should have done anti flea more often and I will.
Vet recommended vacuuming daily for a few weeks but no mopping.
Behaviour problem of my cat is, because I only found out recently, she's deaf. Feliway might be a nice addition. Should check out the prices when I pick up the stronghold.

Did they mention Stronghold is also wormer, I used to use Stronghold on Patch and only had to pop a pill down her every 6 months... Worth checking with your vet if she still needs a pill every couple of months.
BTW, there is absolutely nothing wrong with Stronghold, just my current vet recommends a different brand and it's very very slightly cheaper.

I second this. Got ride of ours so fast, just don't spray it on the cat
Also, if you nit comb your cat have a mug of boiling water to dunk the comb into after each pass to ensure and fleas you catch are killed

Its been 4 months, pretty sure Bruno is happy in his new home
-
• #6365
Advantage spot on seems to work well for our cats, no fleas at all since we started using it.
-
• #6366
Agree with Spot on, we use it every month regardless of whether we see anything on him or not. With this warm weather he is out from 7am-11pm most days, the fleas that do come back usually just drop dead on the pale blanket when he sleeps.

Bruno now owns that setee
-
• #6368
Its the back sitting room and he has a choice of two....we don't really use that room, sometimes he will come and sit with us in the front room. Or he will just bugger off to the top of the house and sleep on the floor under a bed.
Its not just the settee he owns, its the house and all gardens within a 1/2 mile radius.
He has free rein over all of the gardens surrounded by, Station, Crescent, Christchurch and Manor road
I would love to get a Camera on him to see if he crosses any of the roads

Cool !! Get a camera and track his movements, cool cat

My wife has watched him climb the trees behind us to search for birds / chicks and he has brought several back. Its pretty grim when you have to clean up blood from the carpet after the cat has maimed / killed or half eaten a bird in your house (hence the blanket as well)

the back sitting room
this must be how the other half live

I moved to Oxford from South Wales / Pembrokeshire 27 years ago and I'm still in shock at how expensive it is here.
Particulary as I have 3 Maine Coons and a Ragdoll to feed .........
I did before, didn't see anything bad. Now I see one message on ebay. I do see a lot of dead fleas around my cat. My cat is licking herself like crazy like one would expect. Flea or nit comb is impossible on my cat. Just not possible. That would mean a grooming salon but I doubt they would take her with fleas. I will start killing them manually.
Edit: There are two version of that spot on stuff, one for cats, one for dogs. if you use the dogs one on cats they die.
Edit: Apparently, if you do the search in my language, it seems like a good product with highly positive ratings. If you search for it in English, it's a product that kills cats. Will call vet first thing in the morning.
