Depends if you can fit it in. I doubt Sky decided to recon this stage ahead of the Tour as they knew the Dauphine would give them all they needed to know.
They also use data provided to them from Ben at Veloviewer to give them a better understanding of what's coming up, which saves them recon time and gives the DS useful real time information.

Why would you not do a recon? If cycling is your job, isn't a recon just basic research?
