To be fair to Froome, when he realised he was boxing Porte in, he moved away from him.

Yeah. He's not exactly used to sprinting.

That was beautiful. Porte vs Froome in the Tour is going to be thrilling. Hopefully they'll find a TV director who has seen a bike race before.

I think Froome answered any questions about his form today. He's not in top shape, but he's in a good place.

Are there time bonuses?

Yes, 10-6-4 seconds for the top 3 on each stage, except the TT.

Will it be the same in the TdF?

Time bonuses are awarded at the end of every mass-start stage (i.e. no time bonuses on offer in individual and team time trials). The first three riders get 10, 6 and 4 seconds, respectively.

According to his interview post stage, he'd not recon'd it. Which is surprising as he went down it like he knew it well.

He did say it was fun. I remember enjoying it but my hands were aching at the bottom from the braking for the hairpins.

Why would you not do a recon? If cycling is your job, isn't a recon just basic research?

It would take a good dozen or so descents to begin to learn that many corners.

Plus busy recon the tour de france stages that he actually cares about.

Dauphine is just a small time race.

Depends if you can fit it in. I doubt Sky decided to recon this stage ahead of the Tour as they knew the Dauphine would give them all they needed to know.

They also use data provided to them from Ben at Veloviewer to give them a better understanding of what's coming up, which saves them recon time and gives the DS useful real time information.

Sometimes I read things on here and think, "Am I supposed to know what that is?" Ben at Veloviewer?
