Went shopping this morning. Must have walked past the pain au chocolat at least four times.

Just attempted to do some upper-body exercises.
Really should have started these sooner.

The spiders let you have the dumbells back?

Body weight exercises only. The weights are holding my shed down.

Anyway, I'd only try and lift something that I was able to 20 years ago and injure myself :-/

I'm not decided yet, but might have a go at a CX race near the end of July.

Even though it's nothing like what I'm aiming for, it should be easy enough for me to get to ( I really hate travelling ), and it could help me deal with the nervousness associated with being part of a race.

Would you ride a CX bike?
-
• #217
I think that's a good idea. Generally speaking, cx races are much more welcoming than most other disciplines I've dabbled in.

Would you ride a CX bike?
I'll wish that I had, as loads of them go whizzing by :-)
Would be on the Talbot, complete with huge tyres and bouncy forks. Sounds perfect for a flat bit of parkland.

There was a lot of elevation changes in the course they used for the London League round in January. Plus a long flight of stairs.

Can I ride down the steps instead? My bike weighs 15kg!
-
• #222
We went up the steps. And the commissaries made it clear that riding up them was prohibited and would result in disqualification.

The patch right before the steps was really icy! But you won't have that problem in July. I really liked that course, even though I did the race with my back wheel at about 5 psi because I'm an idiot.
I had a good battle with another rider who was clearly stronger than me on the straights, but she just couldn't manage the short, sharp uphills, so basically had to dismount/dab for all of them. AFAIK I finished ahead of her. All the BMX spinning helped for those features.

That was a fun but slidey day out

I should be doing a 12hr TT this year, so I can slightly relate.
Congratulations on completing that. 273 miles is completely mind-boggling :-)
Hey getting out and doing a test is a major win and declaration of intent. I hate them soooo much.
