SNP had just 10 MP's in 2010. They went from that to 54 in six years, yes Davidson only had one MP after the last election but it's all relative and the Tories for all their negative single issue campaigning could still only scrape 25 percent of the vote. I suspect their stronger showing is an unholy alliance of older Brexit supporting Scots and entrenched Unionists of the sort that grace the DUP.

Well, I don't know which sort of groups supported her, but I do wonder how far back you have to go to find as many Tory seats as that in Scotland. I think it might be 1983:

Sure, but she won the Tories a lot of seats in Scotland--where not too long ago they had one or none (can't remember exactly). To me that speaks of being a good political tactician. And what's really new about hypocrisy in politics?
