Nicky Morgan - gets the first knife in

It can't be realistic for her to expect that she could get away with a wafer-thin (though technical) majority supported by (according to this thread, I didn't know much about the DUP yesterday) religious zealots. Especially ones that want a rock hard Brexit, when the rest of the country apparently doesn't trust her to deliver one.
I don't think even Tory's would stand for that would they?

I became confused. Its Fallon who was attracting shade, not Farron.

No wonder she got the boot!

If Kensington goes Labour, that will be massive.

SNP got 977,568
UKIP got 593,852 votes
Green got 524,604
DUP got 292,316UKIP are hardly dead. They're just not properly represented becasue of our bad system.
DUP and SNP and very over represented!

UKIP are hardly dead. They're just not properly represented becasue of our bad system.
Possibly - maybe as many wouldn't vote for them if their vote actually counted and they weren't just a protest vote.
-
• #3286
So, what you're saying is UKIP voters are everywhere, but spread quite thin, like one of those dog shits on the pavement that somebody has trod in and then walked it down the road.

Some background reading on hung parliaments (from 2015 but still relevant)

Haha perfect!

UKIP had 3,881,099 in 2015 / when Tory had 6.5 point lead over labour
UKIP now has 593,852 in 2017 / when Tory have 2.5 lead over labourwhy should I not be grinning? of course there are racists everywhere, in all parties, but UKIP did great damage to labour prospects in a GE, now that seems to be dead, maybe not buried though

We have STV (a PR system) in NI...and only 1.8 million people.
Comparing FPTP with STV does not compute...
Fuck the DUP btw. And SF. They can go marry each other.

I still find it pretty bad that a couple of thousand in each constituency vote Ukip. That's not nothing.
-
• #3294
Understandably, but my point is on number of supporters. If you consider that, UKIP are hardly dead. They've lost support, which has defected to Conservative given how right wing they are. But not dead, just not represented due to, well the good analogy above!
-
• #3295
I don't think people vote UKIP as a protest! They vote becasue they agree.
But lots shifted from UKIP to Conservative, with their hard brexit and right wing agenda. The conservative party has just become UKIP, it's not dead.

Shares in SKY down 2% on the belief that the result will mean the takeover by Fox will be more challenging than expected. Sad news.

We probably do need roughly that number of taxi drivers
-
• #3298
see my post above, UKIP have lost 85% of their voters!!! and the majority voted for labour instead, Farage admitted this earlier today
-
• #3299
and the majority voted for labour instead, Farage admitted this earlier today
Shouldn't they be asking Nuttalls of the UKIPs about this party rather than Farage
-
• #3300
I know, they lost a lot of voters, but they're not dead. They're just marginalised as their voters moved to conservative.
And I hope the Queen has the stones to tell May how it is.
A DUP coalition is a joke. I expect some BIG protests and unrest. Remember those student protests...
Their tribute act more successful than they were playing their tunes
