My hometown seat has gone back to Labour! It was Labour from 1997-2010.
My parents had become completely disillusioned with politics after the Iraq War made them give up on Labour, and their Lib Dem votes in 2010 went to shit. Corbyn has got them engaged again, and my dad has been out canvassing and attending meetings. He is proof that old people aren't self-interested Tory idiots, and that Corbyn has brought people back to the party.
The seat has just gone back to Labour with a 7.8% lead over the Tories. I can't believe it.

Times: Theresa May's Gamble Fails.
Seems like they are conveniently forgetting their own backing for this gamble:
As soon as Theresa May announced the snap election last month, the Times gave her its full backing – both for the election itself and for her leadership. In an editorial in May the paper said Britain “stands to benefit from a bigger Conservative majority, as long as it is wisely used”.
How's your majority, Rupert?

I think the SNP had to fight on two fronts that are very hard to resolve though; firstly, pro-Europe, socialist core which alienates the wealthier older more right leaning votes they might have stolen from the Tories, and then the independence aspect which alienates the protestant, sometime Unionists they'd nicked from Labour when nobody really thought Independence was on the cards. Then there's just the issue voters that believe all the shite spread about poor healthcare and education stats that were spread around in the press without much scrutiny-it was far easier for Davidson to get traction up here because the media are so fucking willing to indulge her...

I wanted to stay up to see Amber Rudd lose her job. But I'm going to try and get 2 hours' sleep before work.

Could we be rid of both Zac and Rudd? This is almost worth the fatigue-induced cerebral haemorrhage staying up will bring.

Alex Salmond has lost his seat.

Ruth Davidson gives no fuck about what's happening south of the border

Please. I want to go to bed, but can't. Can someone please just go into the future and then come back with all the results.
-
• #3099
True, but another loss will really put a stake in his political ambitions. Then he can bugger off to a private palace to sulk for the rest of his life like his dad.
