Don't you agree on 2017 that the real threat of a single-party state and a slip into authoritarianism comes from the political right. The erosion of institutions, money in politics and the agenda of corporations (or whoever pays to play)?
Russia is now living the tasty new brand of economic liberalism and social conservatism for which the alt-right get a hard-on. It's in complete rejection of Socialism ... and it's a shit hole.
