I've ordered an 11-32 cassette.
What size front ring should I go for?
I'm thinking a 46, which should give 40mph at a 120rpm downhill spin and 6mph for a 50rpm uphill grind.
Thoughts pls.

I'm in the process of giving 1x a crack too, and have settled on 48 x 11-32.
It give more or less the same total GI spread as 53/39 with 12-25 cassette which I've currently got on one of my road bikes.
But, YMMV and of course will be subject to your local terrain. -

Thanks. That confirms my thoughts.

Stickered and lacquered fork.
Not perfect, a bit of texture here and there. As always I should have spent a bit longer flatting it, but once it's on the bike I reckon it will look sweet as.
You're probably not cool enough to recognise the logoze:

I just built up a commuter 1x10 with a 44 front and 11-28 cassette. My commute is pretty flat and the cassette and rear derailleur was what I had lying around though.

I have a 40 on my crosser - works pretty nicely for road. I would err on the lower side if you have a choice.

This is correct. Looks awesome though, are the logos masked & painted or stickers?

I ran 11-32 to 50t and loved it. I'm currently using an 11-28 and it's still fine but I would like to drop to a 48

Just stickers. I ain't that clever. And don't worry, they're just for my little shop which isn't even in London and certainly isn't cool.

I expect - no, demand - to see this hanging in the window when I cruise past to buy ruinously-expensive wine from NY.

Lifestlye biek display. I like it.
I get 'fellow local trader' discount price at said shop and still can't afford to buy there.

Front derailer (that's right derailer) in the bin takes the weight saving to 300g.

Old FSA cranks out, new [to me] FSA cranks in and a further 152g off. Plus a chainring to come off that.

The frame is now drying in the garage having been questionably stickered and lacquered.

I quite happily run a 50T front with a 10-42 rear from Kent to Colorado, works well in all circumstances.

My RD runs out of ideas at 32 I think.
I'm going to start with a 46T and see how that goes. What black front ring should I get? 130PCD.

Absoluteblack?
Even wurst.
I should have said at the start - the bike was 7.9kg before I started taking it to bits.
I'm expecting to add a good 500g of paint so need all the savings I can get.
