  • I've ordered an 11-32 cassette.

What size front ring should I go for?

    I'm thinking a 46, which should give 40mph at a 120rpm downhill spin and 6mph for a 50rpm uphill grind.

    Thoughts pls.

  • I'm in the process of giving 1x a crack too, and have settled on 48 x 11-32.
It give more or less the same total GI spread as 53/39 with 12-25 cassette which I've currently got on one of my road bikes.
But, YMMV and of course will be subject to your local terrain.

  • I have a 40 on my crosser - works pretty nicely for road. I would err on the lower side if you have a choice.

  • I ran 11-32 to 50t and loved it. I'm currently using an 11-28 and it's still fine but I would like to drop to a 48

  • 46t will work well, it's just on the theshold of nearly being small for a road bike, but plenty for everything, you just need to gun it up steep hill standing up.
