I'm going with my other half, the pace will be pretty steady, we plan on spending days exploring cities / towns by bike after setting up at a camp site. I would worry more about leaving the CDF locked up around town and it's much easier to ride the GT at a slower pace, plus it's really nice to ride even loaded. I've done some big trips on the CDF in the past, don't worry.

I've got a day one nexus I use as a winter/wet commute/work horse - I'm really tempted to take off guards, put carbon forks on and install single speed but then I wouldn't have a wet weather bike. I reckon it would be pretty fun in that format, don't rule it out. The black SS model is lovely IRL too.
