Is there an app/online tool to 'snap' iffy gpx tracks back to the roads where they should have recorded, but didn't? There used to be Race Shape but it seems that's been out of action for some time.

Do you have a copy of the gpx track somewhere , it is possible to do this in a bit of a convoluted way using garmins basecamp. Import the track, convert that track to a route which depending on the routing profile chosen will bring it onto the roads and that route can be converted back to a track.
Depends why you want to do this on whether it will give you the end result you need, most likely the data timestamps will be removed during this process, so the file will be invalid for strava use etc.

Thanks. As you may have guessed, it's mostly for the stravas, so probably not worth the effort.
