Ah yeah got you, it says he's active despite his dot being greyed out and very obviously not active. Does anyone know what dictates the dot greying out? Does the rider manually set themselves inactive or does it happen when they don't move for a set amount of time?
Regarding the race, it's looking pretty strung out at the front now. Big gaps between the front 7.

They go grey if there's no update from the tracker for a certain amount of time (30 minutes I think), usually because the rider has stopped and turned off the tracker.
The trackers send their updates periodically, so if the rider turns it off the last position reported by the tracker might be quite a bit out of date.
Looking at Hippy's tracker, it's updating every 30 minutes, so he could have ridden on for a further 29.9 minutes from his last reported position before stopping and turning off the tracker. I doubt he camped, zooming in on the map I guess he ended up at Lochsa Lodge which is a few miles up the road.
We'll have more of an idea when he turns his tracker back on after the (hopefully) good rest he's had. Or if he finds a signal/wifi and tweets.

The funny thing is in his prep mega miles this year he has climbed less then me this year. And he has a fat bike and the weather for it.

Greetings again from ‘mission control’ here in Eugene, OR. Due to some unexpected health issues Rob will not be continuing in the Trans America Bike Race. It ultimately came down to some significant swelling in his knee and numbness in his foot that made this decision.
After taking the day to try and recover in Darby, MT. and with much deliberation with his wife and support crew, the conclusion was reached that proceeding would have a high potential to yield a much larger injury that could have long term effects.Upon his return, Rob will provide more updates about this adventure, his gear and a deeper analysis of Trans Am. Thanks so much to everyone who cheered him on along the way, it’s been extremely encouraging to Rob and it is with a heavy heart I relay this message to you.
Also, a huge Thank You to his sponsors for helping to make this possible, as mentioned above there will be further write ups and reviews about Rob’s kit when he returns home and gets sorted. (Tags below)

Ta. Actually, I think I remember that from the TCR last year now.
I saw that site, but as his symbol was off on the other side of the road I assumed he wasn't at the site. It's probably just not exact enough to show him where he actually is.
